Largo Park E-Scooter Accident Settles for $100,000

Facts:

On June 15, 2022, my client was parked and sitting in her car on Central Ave. in St. Petersburg. In a freakish accident, another vehicle ran a red light and was t-boned by a trolley full of passengers. The trolley skidded forward pushing the car. It was like a bulldozer taking out everything in its path. As it came to a stop, it smashed into my client’s vehicle, lifting it up and pushing it back into the next parked car. My client was thrown about in the car. By pure luck, the entire incident was caught on video.

Injuries:

My client was transported via ambulance to St. Anthony’s hospital. She had pain in her head, neck, back, and knees. She was treated and released. She followed up with several doctors for her continued pain. She was given a brain MRI, which was normal. She was given a neck MRI, which also was normal. But, her lumbar MRI revealed a herniation at L5-S1 and her knee MRI revealed a tear of the meniscus.

She tried physical therapy and chiropractic care, which helped, but didn’t solve the issues. She then was referred to a pain management doctor for her back issues. She first tried an epidural steroid injection then a medial branch block. For her knee, she had an arthroscopy to repair it.

The Demand:

I prepared a detailed demand outlining all of the injuries and losses. The demand was sent in late December, 2022.

Settlement:

The case was settled for $250,000 in mid-January, 2023. All of my clients medical bills are paid for and she received significant money for pain and suffering. She was very happy with the result.
