How is the Coronavirus affecting your personal injury claim? Now, today is March 13th, 2020 and obviously there is a huge issue going on in this country, more specifically Florida analysis County and St Petersburg where my office is located. The good news, however, is that we have seen virtually no interference with any of our personal injury claims as far as the processing or the medical treatment. And the reason for that is that we have noticed the insurance companies, a lot of the adjusters work from home, so the insurance companies are still answering phones, they're able to email, they're able to review medical records. Most importantly, they're still able to mail out settlement checks. So we've had virtually no problem with communication and claims handling as far as the insurance companies go. We've also spoken to our medical providers for all of our clients who are currently in treatment for their personal injury case.

And we're being told that again, there are no issues as far as our clients being able to get into the doctor's offices, get in for MRIs or whatever type of diagnostic treatment or uh, or also to get in for their continued medical procedures. Likewise, we've had no issues with people being able to get into any of the local hospitals. So that's a good thing where the problem is coming up on personal injury cases is when a case is in litigation and is set for trial. Chief judge Anthony, Ron Delino of the sixth judicial circuit has suspended jury trials. So what that is going to do is to create a ripple effect here in Pinellas County because we simply are not able to get cases tried. And so whenever this, uh, this issue concludes and jury trials begin again, there is going to be a backlog of cases set for trial and that's going to have a ripple effect because the defense lawyers on the other side, they're not, they're going to have a, have a backlog of cases to try.

They're not going to be, have enough time to get to the new cases. It's going to create a real log jam of personal injury cases and it's going to be a problem. But that's the only stage that we're seeing problems. Uh, depositions are still able to continue. Discovery is still going on. Communication with the other lawyers, all of that is fine. It's just the jury trials. Uh, you know, I was in court three days this week, earlier this week. There were no issues yesterday. I turned around, looked into the courtroom. Uh, there were people sitting in the, in the seats wearing masks. So I understand why the chief judge suspended the jury trials because people are just absolutely freaking out over the, uh, uh, over to come. And I, I understand the unknown in, in the fright of it all. But, um, that's really the status, uh, of the personal injury world here in Pinellas County and more specifically St Petersburg, Florida. Again, today is March 13th, 2020. If you are involved in a personal injury accident, please contact us. We are still open for business and we're still processing claims, um, as normal. So good luck to you and stay safe.
