PORT RICHEY, Fla. – A 74-year-old Port Richey man died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while walking across Embassy Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. at the intersection of Embassy Boulevard and Barrington Lane.
A Ford Escape, driven by a 56-year-old Port Richey woman, was traveling eastbound on Embassy Boulevard at the time of the collision. The pedestrian was walking south across the roadway when he entered the path of the oncoming SUV, which then struck him.
The man was transported from the scene to an area hospital. However, he later died from the severe injuries sustained during the crash.
The driver of the Ford Escape was not identified in the initial FHP report.
