A pedestrian crossing U.S. 41 in Bradenton died after being hit by a driver, Florida Highway Patrol said Wednesday in a press release.
The fatal crash happened at 11:38 p.m. on Tuesday.
A 27-year-old man from Bradenton was traveling south on 41 and 66 Avenue West when a woman entered the southbound lane ahead of his vehicle attempting to cross the highway.
The right front of the man’s car hit the woman, and the impact left her lying in the southbound lane of 41.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said the woman was 71 years old and from West Melbourne City.
She is the second pedestrian in Bradenton to be hit and killed by a driver this week.
FHP continues to investigate the crash.
