Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are currently on-scene of a double fatality crash involving two motorcycles and a pickup truck. The crash occurred at approximately 11:16 am. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the southbound lanes of US-19 near Eagle Chase Boulevard in Palm Harbor.
One motorcyclist, a 66 year-old male from Largo, died at the scene and a female passenger on the Harley Davidson motorcycle was transported by the LifeLine Critical Care Transport Team to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with life threatening injuries. Troopers say that the 62 year-old passenger from New Port Richey later died at the hospital from her injuries.
The motorcyclist that died at the scene was traveling southbound US-19 approaching Eagle Chase Boulevard in the inside lane. According to FHP, traffic ahead of the motorcycle began to slow when the man lost control and struck a second Harley Davidson motorcycle. The two motorcycles traveled into the center lanes, overturned and collided with a Ford F250 with a utility trailer attached.
The 43 year-old driver in the southbound pickup truck was not injured in the crash.
The two occupants of the 2nd motorcycle, a 52 year-old male from Holiday and a 49 year-old female from Holiday were transported to the hospital with serious but not life-threating injuries.
All southbound lanes of US-19 were closed at Klosterman Road until approximately 4 p.m.
